About us
Dear Members and Visitors,
Welcome to the website of the French Society for Photobiology (SFPb)!
Photobiology, the study of the interactions between light and living organisms, is an exciting research field that encompasses many essential aspects of life on Earth.
From plant photosynthesis to marine photobiology, which reveals fascinating ecosystems where light plays a fundamental role, and from the effects of light on human health to its medical applications, this discipline offers a wide range of captivating topics. Our Society is dedicated to promoting research and encouraging collaborations in this dynamic field.
As a community of scientists, researchers, and enthusiasts, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and sharing our discoveries. We strongly believe that interdisciplinarity and international cooperation are essential to address the complex challenges we face.
This website has been designed as a platform for information, exchange, and collaboration. You will find scientific resources as well as information about our events and conferences. We invite you to explore these materials, join our vibrant community, and actively participate by sharing your suggestions and proposals.
For the new year 2026, we are counting on your collaboration, energy, and ideas to ensure that the French Society for Photobiology continues to reflect the current landscape of photobiology in France. This includes, in particular, the Photobiology School of the European Society for Photobiology, the Society’s annual meeting scheduled for this autumn in the Paris region, preparations for the future European Photobiology Congress in 2027 in Kraków, as well as the continuation of the Society’s thesis prize and the awarding of travel grants for young researchers. We are also considering reintroducing a young researcher award and publishing a special issue of PPS to map French photobiology.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Patricia and Thierry, former President and Treasurer, for their dedication to the service of the SFPb.
Michel Sliwa
President of the SFPb
